Emerald City Comic Con Plans

Emerald City Comic Con Plans

A quick link before I get into my ECCC details:

Now, for more about my Emerald City Comic Con plans. As I’ve mentioned before, I’ll only be there for Friday, March 2nd, but I’ll be around the Angry Robot booth for most of the midday (particularly, 12:00 – 6:00 PM), so hopefully I shouldn’t be too elusive for anyone hoping to see me. I also have a book signing at the AR booth scheduled for 2:00 – 3:00 PM, so if you pick up Moonshine on Thursday or Friday morning, that’s a great time to bring it by.

Angry Robot will be located in booth #1816 on the main show floor (a stone’s throw from the big Dark Horse booth), so if you’ll be attending ECCC, please stop by and pick up some excellent books.

Back From Seattle

Back From Seattle

The book signing at the University Book Store in Seattle went without a hitch, aside from the aforementioned violent far right group in the area earlier that day that left the neighborhood a bit of a ghost town. Thankfully, I didn’t see any of that nonsense and had a lovely time at the University Book Store. I am, however, a bit wiped from the drive up and down to Seattle.

Here are some pictures (courtesy of my friend, Audry) from the event:

And just a quick reminder that I will be up in Seattle AGAIN for Emerald City Comic Con on March 2nd!

UPDATE: Signing good to go with obvious caveats

UPDATE: Signing good to go with obvious caveats

I was made aware late last night about this notice sent out by the UW President yesterday. The site of the planned far-right rally is only a few blocks from the University Book Store, and obviously I have multiple concerns about both the University’s warning and their handling of the whole situation. I am trying this morning to reach out to the University Book Store for more information and will update as soon as I know more about how this could affect the event. Of course, regardless of any potential changes to the event, please avoid the University of Washington campus today if you feel unsafe.

Again, I will update once I’m able to contact the Book Store staff and obtain more information about the situation.

UPDATE (11:13 AM): I spoke to the Book Store staff and they were able to clarify the security situation. They advised that the store should be far enough away from campus and late enough in the day that it should not be impacted by the planned rally. They also have security staff present who are aware of the security threat on campus. Everything is still in order to proceed with the signing, and they didn’t appear to anticipate any problems at the store.

That said, again, please avoid the University of Washington campus area today if you feel unsafe. On that note, if I arrive and find that the area appears unsafe, I will be in touch with the Book Store again and cancel tonight’s event.

For those still interested, the signing begins at 6:00 PM tonight at:

U District – University Book Store
4326 University Way NE
Seattle, WA 98105

US Book Birthday for Moonshine!

US Book Birthday for Moonshine!

Today’s Moonshine’s US release day! I said I’d have some more words for the second release day, and here they are:

A huge thank you as always to the Angry Robot crew, and various thanks as well to: my agent Laura Zats, Dawn Frederick, Paul Simpson, Dan Holloway, John Coulthart, Idris Grey, Beth Phelan, AC Wise, JS Fields, Abbey Gaterud, Kathi Berens, my fellow Oolies, Stacie, Audry, Eli, Flynn, and my family. I’m sure I’m glossing over some folks who deserve thanks but the book has acknowledgements already, so you’ll have to buy it if you want the full list, I guess.

Oh, and thank you again to Bruce Cordell for helping my author copies get to my house!

I started working on Moonshine as a rough concept waaaay back in high school, and picked it back up when I (like Daisy) was shortly out of college and trying to get my feet under me so I could survive the whole capitalism thing. It went through many rounds of editing and a very slow submission process (during which I did more editing!) before I ever even connected with Angry Robot through #DVPit. The publishing process is never a short one, and I definitely took my sweet time with this one, so needless to say it’s very satisfying to have it in actual, for-reals book form and out in the world. The support and reactions I’ve gotten so far have been wonderful, and it really is a dream come true to have my debut novel sitting on my own bookshelf.

And don’t think I’m getting through this without more link round-ups:

Anyway, now that you can buy Moonshine, the time has come to turn all those pre-order links into regular purchase links:

Here Comes Another Moonshine Round-up!

Here Comes Another Moonshine Round-up!

Sorry for the low fanfare here for yesterday’s UK release of Moonshine. I did not have the time I thought I had to pull together something a little flashier. I have something more extensive planned for the US release on Tuesday, provided I don’t spend the whole weekend playing Dissidia. (I will, but I can also get a slightly longer post thrown together, regardless.) Until then, wow, more stuff:

Whew, what a week! I also wanted to remind you all that I have a content warning list for Moonshine here on my site, if there’s any type of content you’d like a head’s up about before reading the book. The list is incomplete, of course, but I tried to note the stuff that particularly stood out.

Okay, I think that’s all I’ve got for this very moment! Now I’m off to catch up on some very important work (which is playing more Dissidia).
